RCBH will celebrate Youth Leadership Conference this coming Saturday March 14, 2015

The purpose is to recruit students who are eager to gain leadership experience through volunteer initiatives tied to the improvement of health care in rural areas

The Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) in collaboration with the Arizona Rural Health Association (AzRHA) is pleased to announce the 2015 Youth Leadership Conference “Courage to Speak” that will take place on Saturday March 14, 2015, at 9:00 am at the Cocopah Resort in Somerton, AZ. 

The purpose of the Youth Leadership Conference is to recruit students who are eager to gain leadership experience through volunteer initiatives tied to the improvement of health care in rural areas.

Last years’ event took place in the City of Douglas with a record number of youth participating. This time, the RCBH is expecting to have 80 students at the conference, where workshops will be offered by Ms. Ramona Corrales, Chicanos Por La Causa immigration expert; and by Mr. Alex Valenzuela, RCBH Social Work Services Director, among others.

 Also, this year’s Youth Leadership Conference the RCBH will have Dr. John Arnold, CEO and Founder of the Portable Practical Educational Preparation, Inc. (PPEP, Inc.), who will talk about this year main theme “Courage to Speak”.

The Mayors of the City of Douglas, City of San Luis, and City of Somerton, and the Cocopah Indian Tribe Chairwoman have signed a joint declaration for this event and will be present at the morning Welcome Session to be held at 9:30 AM, by Ms. Amanda Aguirre, President and CEO of the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., and AzRHA President.

Education and job opportunities will be available to the students with representatives of the following schools and agencies: Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), Arizona Western College (AWC), University of Arizona (UofA), Cenpatico, University of Phoenix and the U. S. Border Patrol.
