RCBH/WAHEC recognizes student from Lake Havasu for making history by winning 2nd place at the HOSA International Leadership Competition
Faith Mendoza won 2nd place at the international competition held in Tennessee, from June 22nd to 25th, 2016

Faith Mendoza won a Bronze medal during the 2016 HOSA Spring Leadership Conference celebrated in Tucson, and that gave her the pass to compete in the international competition which took place in Nashville, Tennessee, from June 22nd to 25th, 2016

Yuma, Arizona. – Faith Mendoza, Lake Havasu High School student, sponsored by the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc./Western Arizona Health Education Council (RCBH/WAHEC) to participate for the first time in the 39th Health Occupation Students Association (HOSA) International Leadership Conference, is making history again by obtaining 2nd place during this event.

Ms. Amanda Aguirre, former State of Arizona Senator and President and CEO of RCBH, announced that Mendoza, a student of Lake Havasu HOSA Chapter, participated on the Human Growth and Development area at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, where students from across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and Italy participated this year.

Faith Mendoza won a Bronze medal during the 2016 HOSA Spring Leadership Conference celebrated in Tucson, and that gave her the pass to compete in the international competition which took place in Nashville, Tennessee, from June 22nd to 25th, 2016.

“We are so proud to learn that Faith is one of the young students who really believe in their selves and successfully chose health related careers”, said Ms. Aguirre, and added, “We are so pleased she made great the first time she gets to this level.”

A total of 6,500 students registered to participate on 57 different competitions during the event held in Tennessee.

RCBH/WAHEC has been sponsoring HOSA High Schools Chapters in Yuma and La Paz Counties for years, and this is the first year Lake Havasu participates in the state wide competition, and now a the international level with the outcomes mentioned above.

HOSA in the state of Arizona has grown to over 8,000 members. Over 3,000 competed at the state leadership conference.
