RCBH to celebrate 2016 Youth Leadership Conference in collaboration with AzRHA
2015 Youth Leadership Conference

According to former Arizona State Senator, Ms. Amanda Aguirre, President and CEO of Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., the purpose of the Youth Leadership Conference is to recruit students who are eager to gain leadership experience through volunteer initiatives tied to the improvement of health care in rural areas

Yuma, AZ. - Almost 70 students from High Schools of Douglas, Tucson, Somerton and San Luis, and the Cocopah Indian Tribe will participate at the 2016 Youth Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) in collaboration with the Arizona Rural Health Association (AzRHA).

This year the event will take place from Friday April 22nd to Sunday April 24th, 2016 at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center, located at 1015 N. Main Street, San LuisAZ 85349.

According to former Arizona State Senator, Ms. Amanda Aguirre, President and CEO of Regional Center for Border Health, Inc., the purpose of the Youth Leadership Conference is to recruit students who are eager to gain leadership experience through volunteer initiatives tied to the improvement of health care in rural areas.

“We are glad to bring this forum to young leaders and provide them with health topics that will give them the opportunity to discuss border issues; this will give them the skills and knowledge of the border communities,” stated Ms. Aguirre.

The 2016 Youth Leadership Conference program will start with a welcome dinner to students and faculty members on Friday April 22nd, at 5:00 PM at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center.

On Saturday a Joint Declaration will be given by Mayors of Douglas, Tucson, San Luis, Somerton and the Cocopah Indian Tribe at 9:00 AM.

This year the Youth Leadership Conference Keynote Speaker will be Mr. Tim D. Hardy, Director & Treasure Hunter with the Yuma County Juvenile Justice Center, who will address “Mental Time Travel; How to Become Leaders in Your Community.”

Ms. Amanda Aguirre will be also addressing a message to the students later on Saturday.

The students will have the opportunity to apply their skills during group discussions at the event to propose solutions and actions steps they can take in their local communities.
