RCBH proudly announces that the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative will be launched during the Binational Health and Environment Council meeting

The Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative will consist in an awareness campaign in both San Luis Rio Colorado and San Luis, Arizona which will include banners in streets of both cities. Several food businesses from both sides of the border participating in the campaign will support the campaign providing healthy choices

Yuma, Arizona.- The Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) is proud to announce the launching of the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative through the Binational Health and Environment Council of Yuma County, Arizona and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

A Joint Declaration for the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative will be signed by Ms. Amanda Aguirre, former State of Arizona Senator and President and CEO of the RCBH; Mayor Gerardo Sanchez of San Luis, Arizona; Mayor Enrique Reina of San Luis Rio Colorado; and Dr. Martha Lopez, Health Ministry Director of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora, during the regular session of the Binational Health and Environment Council this Wednesday April 27th, 2016 at 10:00 AM.

The ceremony will take place at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center located at 1015 N. Main Street, in San Luis, Arizona where members of Arizona and Sonora border will be present.

The Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative will consist in an awareness campaign in both San Luis Rio Colorado and San Luis, Arizona which will include banners in streets of both cities. Several food businesses from both sides of the border participating in the campaign will support the campaign providing healthy choices.

According to Ms. Aguirre, the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative main purpose is to provide a framework to improve the health of the U.S. and Mexico border residents, focusing on San Luis, Arizona and San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora residents.

“We are glad to announce the Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative implementation which is a part of our mission to improve the quality of life of the residents of this border community,” said Ms. Aguirre.

The Healthy Sister Cities Border Initiative was presented by the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. through the Binational Health Council to the Health Sector, businesses and media outlets back in November last year, in an informational meeting held in San Luis Mexico, where the attendees approved the first phase which is promotion.

Since then, Javier Morales, RCBH Health Initiatives Director along with Catalina Navarro RCBH International Consultant have been inviting businesses to join the campaign to promote healthy lifestyles.
