Binational Council of Health & Environment Yuma County, AZ & San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora launches Binational Health Promotion Campaign

Yuma, AZ – (June 12, 2025).- The Binational Health & Environment Council of Yuma County, Arizona and San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora (COBINAS), sponsored by Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH), is pleased to announce the launching of the Binational Health Promotion Campaign. 

According to Ms. Amanda Aguirre, Former Arizona State Senator, and President and CEO of RCBH, the purpose of this campaign is to increase awareness and importance of “mental and physical health” and its impact on the families’ day-to day live experiences.

“These binational efforts are possible with the support of Public Health and Higher Education sector agencies that actively collaborate within the Binational Health & Environment Council and in partnership with regional media outlets who will provide their time and in-kind resources,” said Ms. Aguirre.

The Binational campaign will also count with the collaboration of Meganoticias, a nation-wide Mexican broadcast news channel operating its local branch in San Luis Río Colorado Sonora, Mex., “La Campesina” radio station in Yuma, Arizona, and Millenium 4.0 YouTube Channel in Mexicali, Baja California.

Meganoticias will include a Health Section in their news show called “Prevention is Health”, produced by their team with interviews made to health professionals from San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora. The Health Section will be aired every Thursday starting June 19, during the night news at 8:30pm, that can be seen at YouTube Channel @MNSLRCProduccion.

La Campesina Radio Station will give air space for live interviews as well, to reach out to the radio audience on healthcare topics every other Saturday, starting Saturday June 14, and June 28, at 10:30am.

Milenium 4.0 will start Thursday, June 26, with an interview to health professionals from Mexicali in collaboration with Grupo Educativo 16 de Septiembre, to talk about the International Day of Drug Abuse Awareness.

The Binational Health Promotion started with two training sessions on Post-Partum Depression and Emergency Response, provided by San Luis Walk-In Clinic, Inc., and Cuerpo de Rescate San Luis, A.C., Sonora, during the COBINAS Regular Quarterly Meeting held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora, free of cost.

Videos of the campaign will be available for the public at RCBH Facebook page SanLuisWalkInClinic.

The Binational Council operates the following committees: Maternal & Child Health, Adolescent Health (Substance Abuse Prevention, Bullying, Teen Pregnancy, Mental Health), Chronic Illnesses, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (TB, HIV/AIDS), and Environmental & Occupational Health.
