We invite you to participate in the "Entre Amigas" / "Between Friends" classes:

1. Breast Cancer
2. Breast Self Exam
3. Cervical Cancer
4. Nutrition
5. Self Esteem

RCBH is aware about the needs of the community has implemented strategies to educate about health promotion and disease prevention. One of these strategies is the development of "Entre Amigas" a Community Outreach Program whose ultimately goal is to increase the awareness of breast and cervical cancer among Hispanic women in the border communities of South Yuma County .

The project's intended outcome is:

1. To reduce the risk of cancer incidence and mortality, and to promote wellness among adult women in South Yuma County .

2. To provide "free-breast and cervical cancer screening" as per the American Cancer Society guidelines to medically underserved Hispanic women in Yuma County.

Promotoras "Between Friends "

To provide culturally sensitive health education for the prevention of cervical and breast cancer to Hispanic women in Yuma County .

To emphasize, among the identified client the importance of "Health Promotion, Disease Prevention" in the following areas: Good nutrition, Importance of breast and cervical clinical examination, Importance of self-breast examination, To provide health education through home visits and group education.

To work with agencies in coordinating referrals, case finding and management.

To serve as a guide through, the AHCCCS application process acting as an advocate.

This project has been established in Yuma County thanks to the Arizona State University Nursing Master's Program. Class 1994 and the Arizona Hispanic Research Center in cooperation with the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc.
