RCBH supports local gym to transform Bullies into good citizens

BRAG is a gym located in Yuma founded by Mixed Martial Arts Carlos Flores, who teach students respect to others

Yuma, Arizona – (February 19, 2015). – In order to support them with their continuous mission of transforming lives of students that had struggled with Bullying in their past, the Regional Center for Border Health, Inc. (RCBH) presented a 3,000 dollars donation to the Bully Rehab Awareness Gym (BRAG).

The check presentation was held on Wednesday February 18, during the Yuma County Anti-Bullying and Against Violence Task Force meeting celebrated at the RCBH Headquarters, where several law enforcement officers, school and Municipal and County wide level representatives discussed the actual efforts the group has made to prevent bullying on schools and the community.

Amanda Aguirre, President and CEO of the RCBH, presented a check to Mr. Carlos Flores, Mixed Martial Arts Professional Fighter, founder and director of BRAG, a local group who supports a program called Bully Angels.

“Bully Angels is a program that actually helps bullies to get on their feet by learning how to respect others and grow from their mistakes,” said Mr. Flores.

A son of a boxer himself, Mr. Flores shared his own story, saying he was embarrassed at school when he was a young boy, because he did not know how to defend himself from being bitten.

“I got in to wrestling to bit the bullies, but then I realized I felt sorry for them and started to get myself a better character to face my life without fighting,” Mr. Flores added.

Now a Mixed Martial Arts professional, Mr. Flores opened BRAG in Yuma, and offers students self-defense classes and also self-esteem and respect to their peers and community members. Some BRAG students that used to be bullies now help other kids to be a better person, said Mr. Flores.

BRAG is located at 60 East South 10th Street, in Yuma, Arizona. To know more about the group the public can visit their website https://torturetrainingcenter.wordpress.com/ or by calling (928) 502-9589.
